Gosstandart of Russia (GOST-R) is the government organization charged with maintaining and enforcing this certification system. The GOST-R Mark is required for almost any product to be imported to Russia. Gosstandart has identified 14 areas of mandatory certification and 31 product categories. This assures compliance with existing safety, technical, and quality standards set by the Russian government. In order to import equipment into Russia, mandatory certification is required by Russian law.
