EMC/EMI Laboratory Manager
Keystone Compliance, LLC, an RF/lightning compliance testing laboratory headquartered in New Castle, PA, currently has an opening for
an EMC/EMI Laboratory Manager This position will report directly to the Chief Technical Officer and be responsible for the following:
Management
- Manage all lab activities including customers, associates and general lab support.
- Coordinate laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions to technicians and engineers.
- Plan, schedule, assign and supervise the work of laboratory technicians, engineers and other laboratory personnel.
- Maintain proper communications, administration, discipline, and other day-to-day procedures.
- Perform as a mentor to associates, technicians and engineers.
- Coordinate administrative aspects of project management.
- Support laboratory equipment needs and records upkeep.
Testing
- Establish appropriate test programs by reviewing RFP and applicable standards.
- Perform immunity and emission testing per requirements detailed in US, International, Military, and Aerospace EMC
standards and test procedures.
- Communicate project status and results to clients through frequent contact.
- Determine compliance with appropriate standards and notify client of any areas in which the product is not in compliance
or of any changes in project scope or specifications.
- Interpret results of EMI data to develop recommendations to customers about EMI packaging and mechanical design.
- Interpret test results, provide data analysis and summarize results through technical report writing.
- Review of test reports generated to ensure integrity of report.
Applicants are required to have the following knowledge:
General Knowledge
- Understand EMC design theory, including detailed theoretical knowledge in the technical areas of shielding, filtering,
grounding, bonding, cabling, gasketing, waveguides, and printed circuit board layout methods.
- Ability to apply and understand advanced concepts of electrical and/or mechanical nature.
- Is familiar with applicable standards, company manuals and appropriate technical literature.
- Experience with the following EMC/EMI test standards: FCC Part 15 & 18, IEC/EN 61000-4-X, Mil-Std-461, RTCA/DO-160.
- NARTE EMC Certification is preferred.
- MIL-STD-461 test knowledge is preferred.
Equipment and Software Experience
- Familiar with Anechoic Chambers, Open Area Test Site (OATS) and absorbing materials.
- Knowledge of laboratory testing apparatus and techniques.
- Ability to use test equipment such as EMI Receivers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Power Meters, and Network
Analyzers, RF Amplifiers, Power Meters, B.C.I Clamps, CDNs, LISNs with various Antennas, and other RF equipment.
- Ability to setup complex test apparatus for verifying product functionality under RF influence and emission measurement.
- Familiar with TILE software, LabView and other test software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word and Excel.
